For many young people, traditional subject options have limited their
opportunities when it comes to jobs, training, further and higher education.
An expanding range of qualifications now gives them a much greater choice of
progression routes. These include new sector-related Diplomas, which may
also involve study towards academic qualifications such as GCSEs or
'A'levels.
Focus on Careers in the West of England has been developed to support all young
people in their decisions. It also complements information advice and
guidance from teachers and other practitioners. Packed with well-researched
information on learning and the local labour market, Focus on Careers gives
an insight into progression routes within the career areas listed opposite.
